- How does The Transfer Club work?
-
It's a monthly subscription box. You get a new pack of transfers each month. Your card will automatically be charged £22.50 each month until you cancel the subscription. You can cancel anytime.
We ship out to customers 3 - 5 working days after cards have been charged.
So Transfer Club members get a new transfer set - near the end of each month.
The Transfer Club is currently closed but sign up here to know when spots open up.
- What are the transfers exactly?
-
They are high quality, water slide transfers (also called decals) designed to adhere strongly to ceramics and glass.
With no kiln firing. These are air dry transfers.Unlike vinyl, my transfers are not made from plastic, but from an innovative ink that is screen printed and coated in an emulsion. Allowing for the decoration of rounded shapes.
Essentially, the transfers are flexible and vibrantly coloured - unlike regular transfer paper.
Post application, the transfer decoration appears seamless with little to no relief texture, and does not require any coating. It looks fired on!
This product is unique on the consumer marketplace and was previously reserved for the ceramics industry only. - Can I try this before committing to a subscription?
-
Ocassionally, past transfer sets become available. They will be listed in my shop here. Keep checking back.
- Are they permanent?
-
Only if you don’t scratch the transfers with finger nails, utensils or put them in the dishwasher. They are intended for decorative and light use. Treat with care.
The transfers are made of a special ink that is designed to cling strongly to ceramics and glass, but they are not scratch proof when it comes to sharp objects.
You can wash them in the sink with a normal kitchen sponge, but do not scratch them with a knife or fork, for example.
If you handle your object with care and the transfer decoration will last a lifetime.
- Are they dishwasher safe?
-
No. While the transfer is exceptionaly strong after the air curing process, extreme heat is not recommeded.
For your transfer to last, handwash with regular dishwashing liquid, and use a normal kitchen sponge or soft brush. - How long do they last?
-
Only transfers that have been fired in a kiln are permanent, scratch proof and food safe.
My transfers are designed to be air-cured and not fired in a kiln.
Therefore these transfers are not as scratch proof as the industrially produced ceramics & glass you have at home.
- What does "not food safe" mean?
-
These transfers are not food safe. This means you should not place the transfers where they will come into direct contact with food.
Do not put them on plates you are going to eat from. The transfers are intended for decorative objects and light use.
Mugs and glassware are fine. But place the transfers on the outside of the mug, not the inside.
While the ink used is not particulary toxic, you don't necessarily want to eat off of it - the same way you would not want to eat from a plate made of crayons or acrylic paint.
The transfers are safe to handle with your bare hands and to decorate household objects with. But they are not meant to be ingested. - Can they be removed?
-
Yes, they can. If you leave your decorated object submerged in water overnight, that will soften the ink.
Allowing you to scrub the decoration away with medicinal alcohol (surgical spirit from the chemist) or turps (used by artists and painters).Once a transfer is removed, it cannot be used again. Switch things up and apply a different one :)
- What if I run out of stuff to decorate?
-
No worries. I trawled the internet so that you don't have to. Shop my favourite Amazon picks here.
- Why are people saying this is addictive?
-
The satisfaction of quickly transforming a boring item into something unique & decorative can be pretty addictive ;)
